Royal Market reopens in Avalae

AVALAE (Atysian Press) - With typical Matis flourish in the form of a small fireworks show, the Royal Market of Avalae marked its recovery from the Second Great Swarming with its first public sale.

Sales were reported to be brisk despite the out-of-the-way venue and Festival of the Lakes running concurrent with the Market's return, as well-heeled adventurers from all continents descended on the small Verdant Heights town looking for the best they could get - dappers no object.

"The quality of the items one can find in the common market areas these days simply won't do for our discerning clientele," said Zakarya di Avalae, the Royal clerk in charge of the bazaar. "So it was of utmost importance to us to get the marketplace back up and running as swiftly as possible."

If traffic at the market was any indicator, di Avalae didn't have much time to spare.

Confusion and chaos set the initial frenzied tone as the marketplace opened for business. The customer service clerk was quickly overwhelmed with orders, forcing di Avalae to deploy additional order-takers to serve the crowd. One homin, apparently cross about having to wait in line, was overheard actually volunteering to pay four times more for a particular firearm.

The homin, who refused to be identified as anything other than a Fyros Patriot, did not seem particularly upset with his purchase either.

"I came to buy a specific gun, not settle for whatever some vendor had lying around, you know?" the Fyros said as he strapped the firearm - a supremely-made Strammelyx rifle with vibrant red-orange inlays - to his mektoub. "A pile of dappers aren't going to help me in the desert, but a well-made gun will."

According to di Avalae, the market will open once every two weeks and will be held adjacent to the common market area of the town. Vendors are encouraged to contact di Avalae to register for booth space, as it tends to be limited.
